It’s time to use your voice again

Reclaiming Your Voice

Last week, we released pressure.

This week, we take the next step: we begin using our voice again.

As an introvert, this is something I am constantly challenging myself to grow in. There are still moments when I don’t take the step of faith to speak up, and honestly, I usually regret staying quiet. But the times I have spoken up have helped build my confidence and reminded me that I can trust what I want to say.

Because confidence isn’t just internal.
It shows up in how we speak, communicate, and express what’s true.

And if you’ve been holding back, staying quiet, or second-guessing yourself… you’re not alone.

But you also don’t have to stay there.

One thing that has helped me is using Mel Robbins’ 5 Second Rule. Count down: 5-4-3-2-1… and take the step. Speak up. Send the message. Ask the question. Share the idea.

This week is about speaking with clarity, not overthinking, over-explaining, or shrinking yourself.

A few prompts for you this week:

  • Where have I been holding back my voice?
  • What truth do I need to speak (even just to myself)?
  • What conversation have I been avoiding?

Start small.

Confidence doesn’t require a big moment, just an honest one.

Engagement Ideas

1.May 20 – International Red Sneakers Day

This day raises awareness for those who suffer from food allergies. Wear your red sneakers to show support and encourage others to join in. If you’re on property, consider hosting a food allergy awareness program or sharing educational resources with residents.

2. May – National Barbecue Month

Gather your friends and family and celebrate this beautiful time of year with a backyard barbecue! This Healthy Southwest Pasta Salad with Chipotle-Lime Greek Yogurt Dressing makes a great side dish for any gathering.

Things I'm Loving

  1. We are currently reading Project Hail Mary for our book club. I loved The Martian, and this one is turning out to be just as good. And if you aren’t much of a reader—the audiobook is superb.
  2. Also, Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netflix. I read the book and absolutely loved it (and still think the book is better 😊), but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie with Sally Field. Have you seen it? What did you think?

The Weekly Reset Practical encouragement for calm, clear, and sustainable leadership. Mid-Year Heart Check After spending time with so many managers at convention, one thought stayed with me during the drive home. Growth doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like a conversation that would have felt intimidating six months ago. Sometimes it looks like someone asking a thoughtful question, sharing a new idea, or encouraging another manager. Sometimes it looks like quietly realizing,...

The Weekly Reset Practical encouragement for calm, clear, and sustainable leadership. Last week, I read a devotional on the Uplift app about Romans 2:4: "Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?" I also appreciated how The Message translates this passage: "God is kind, but he's not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change." I've read...

This week I’m attending the annual RRHA Convention & Trade Show with my coworkers from Hamilton Valley Management. If you're here too, I hope our paths cross! How to Discern Your Next Step Discernment is one of those words we don't use every day, but it's a skill we all need. Simply put, discernment is the ability to see clearly, understand what matters, and make wise...
